MEET THE MUSICIANS:
Gena Britt - Banjo/Vocals:
Gena Britt grew up in a small town in North Carolina where she fell in love with the sounds of bluegrass music
at a very early age. Gena has been a member of three critically
acclaimed bands including Petticoat Junction, New Vintage, and Lou Reid
& Carolina . She formed her own band in 2001, called The Gena Britt
Band & was also a graduating member of Leadership Bluegrass in
2003. She has free-lanced with such groups as The Lonesome River Band,
Carolina Road, Sally Jones & The Sidewinders, The Alecia Nugent
Band, The Donna Hughes Band, and Melonie Cannon. Gena has received
three IBMA awards. Those include Recorded Event of The Year in 2001,
for her work on "Follow Me Back To the Fold", Recorded Event of the
Year in 2006 for "Back to the Well" by the Daughters of Bluegrass and
Album of the Year in 2006 for her contribution to "Celebration of
Life", Musicians Against Childhood Cancer. She has also received three
other notable nominations. Two from SPBGMA (Society for the
Preservation of Bluegrass Music), that include Female Vocalist of the
Year in 2002 & Album of the Year for "Back to the Well" by the
Daughters of Bluegrass in 2007. The remaining nomination was from IBMA
(International Bluegrass Music Association) in 2005 for Recorded Event
of the Year "Daughters of American Bluegrass". Gena has also been
featured on the cover of Bluegrass Now magazine. Her solo project was
released in early 2008 entitled "Doing All I Can". She is honored to be
touring with Dale Ann and is excited about this new endeavor. Gena
makes her home in Clinton, North Carolina with her two beautiful
daughters, Jalyn and Dalsyn.
Tim Laughlin - Mandolin, Fiddle and Vocals:
Tim Laughlin comes from an area rich in the heritage of country music and traditional bluegrass music; Bristol, Virginia.
Tim started his career at the age of 8 and has played extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, Germany, Holland, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, England and Scotland. During his career Tim has had the privilege of playing music with some of the greatest in bluegrass music; Dale Ann Bradley, Doyle Lawson, Jim and Jesse, Jeanette Williams, Larry Sparks, Hazel Dickens, Lynn Morris and the list goes on.
Doing Tim's part to continue the tradition, he gives mandolin lessons and fiddle lessons at his home in Bristol, Tennessee where he presently resides with his wife Cyndi and two dogs Boofer and Barney Fife.
